House of Jubilee

Purpose and Passion Driven

The House of Jubilee church was born out of relationships built with youth at the former Mercy Maternity Clinic (the present location of House of Jubilee since 2000).  These youth regularly spent time at the clinic because they felt accepted there.  When MMC moved to its present location in November 2002, we decided to rent the building to establish a future ministry.  House of Jubilee became a functioning ministry in June 2003 and became a registered organization in November 2004.

What has made the House of Jubilee unique is that it has been established by urban youth under the leadership of Patrick and Inneke Elaschuk, Lydia Noblejas and Joann Quemado.  Pastor Odie Villareal arrived in February 2004 to bring structure and a new flavor of discipleship.  Since then, we have seen continual church growth.  There are outreaches to other areas, and more families, youth and children are being reached and discipled and are growing in their faith in Jesus Christ and sharing it with others.

Because of our close knit community and the nature of this form of church, members typically spend a lot of time together in community projects and church events.  The House of Jubilee is a true community church.

Strong Pillars

House of Jubilee Davao exists to transform the people into influential leaders and pillars in their communities.  Strong pillars are necessary to build successful buildings.  Strong leaders are necessary to build strong communities.

Since today’s youth and children are tomorrow’s leaders, the majority of our time, talents, and resources are invested in raising up young people. We are serious about cultivating the God given potential in every young person living in the city. Through care, discipleship, guidance, and mentoring from a loving staff, youth and children at risk will be given opportunity to:
     1. Have basic needs met through feeding programs, medical services and housing
     2. Mature spiritually and in Christian character through daily discipleship, bible training and
         mentoring.
     3. Become self sufficient through developing small businesses.

We are expecting that Agdao, Davao City, and other parts of the world will be transformed by the youth and children that are being reached and restored at House of Jubilee.

Existing Programs

A team of 12 young people meet every morning for staff devotions and prayer.  They are the ones that carry the bulk of the ministry to our urban poor community in the form of Tabitha Food for Life, Hope Training Center, Bayanihan banking program, Jubilee Kindergarten, small businesses and primary health care.  This is in addition to tending to the affairs of the church including worship team, preaching, prayer ministry, cell groups, visitation, youth ministry, youth camps and children’s ministry.  House of Jubilee is a holistic church that brings the truth of God’s word to the whole body, soul and spirit.

Missions:  House of Jubilee has a focus on being not only a blessing to the local community, but also to other parts of the Philippines.  A team from Agdao has already been sent to Zamboanga City, Marilog, Santa Cruz and Samal Island.  Teams are being trained to be sent to Bohol, Cagayan De Oro and Surigao.

Rescue 3:16 Teams:  The strategy here is to reach and disciple youth from the community using common interest groups.  Of the most common is an outdoor hiking team.  This team meets weekly for a devotional time, has a monthly outreach to the local community, and does a monthly hike to a mountain village where they plant trees and serve with a local church.  They have also done medical outreaches led by a nurse who has trained them in primary health care.

Rangers:  Since a crucial age in the development of leaders is 10-14, we have created a special group for this age group called Rangers.  With relevant bible teaching, skills training and outdoor education similar to boy/girl scouts, young people are able to explore new and exciting adventures in the context of a wholesome environment.

Youth Awake:  Because we believe that the students being trained on today’s campuses are the future leaders of the community we are beginning to broaden our focus towards campus youth.  The long term view is to raise up these youth to bring hope and opportunity to the poor.

From relationships established on campuses through our existing young people and evangelistic efforts, we plan to form a movement called AWAKE.  AWAKE will be about waking up a generation to the purposes and calling of God.  The guiding scripture is “Awake o sleeper and rise from the dead and Christ will shine on you”.
AWAKE will be established in such a way as to relate to the youth of Davao.  Strong emphasis will be put on authentic and spiritual worship, relevant and foundational teaching, active and strategic service, empowering and prudent leadership and creative and honest expression.

The AWAKE mission statement is to:
REACH students where they are
REBUILD their lives on biblical truth
RAISE UP
leaders from among the devoted
RELEASE students to do amazing exploits
REJOICE and glorify God and make His name known all over the planet

Youth groups and churches from overseas can get involved in AWAKE by:

  • sending a team to go through our Great Adventure Camps
  • supporting a campus pastor financially and through prayer
  • adopting a campus through prayer and relationship building
  • helping set up a gathering place with a coffee shop and library
